This month we screen a group of short films to coincide with the “Witness” exhibit at Asian Arts Initiative, reflecting on the 30th Anniversary of the HIV/AIDS epidemic on Friday December 2 at 8pm.
The films we’ll screen include: America’s Shadows: HIV Risk in Black and Latino Youth, directed by Tchaiko Omawale (2009, USA, 26 min.), Kore, directed by Tran T. Kim-Trang (1994, USA, 17 min.), Morir Por Amor: Latinas and AIDS directed by Marta Noemi Bautis (1998, Argentina/Brazil/Dominican Republic/USA, 47 min.), Seen But Not Heard: AIDS and the Untold War Against Black Women directed by Cyrille Phipps (2008, USA, 12 min.), and Viva Eu! directed by Tania Cypriano (1989, Brazil, 18 min.).
